Miki was born and raised in Japan, practicing classical ballet, gymnastics and fitness. She was the national fitness representative for Japan and earned 4th place in the World Fitness Competition before moving to North America. She has worked as an assistant choreographer for So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD) Canada alongside Dmitri Chapman, and more recently, she earned the Champion title in the 2011 California Open competition for her aerial work and story-telling abilities in the theater arts. Miki originally moved to the United States to study classic and modern dance again at Alvin Ailey Dance Academy (New York City), and has since been featured in principal dance roles for both major music videos (previously on MTV) and musical theater productions and across the country. Miki has broadened her interests to include all of the various forms of ballroom dance and has been successfully teaching and competing on the ballroom floor from Florida, to Toronto, and now San Diego. Although Miki has actively pursued dance in nearly every form for many years, her true love remains focused on the unifying principles of strength, balance and flexibility which permeate the physical performing arts. Miki is honored to be part of the team at Emerald Rhythmic Gymnastics and is excited to have the opportunity to instruct and mold the talented young girls of San Diego!
Miki is a Safety and Instructor certified professional member of United States Gymnastics Association.
